Summary: The Technical Product Manager will play a lead role on the mychoice Rewards Loyalty App product team where they will be responsible for ensuring Penn’s mobile loyalty solution is best in class.  The successful candidate will bring their proven experience managing mobile app products to establish and promote a vision for the mobile app that delivers upon the strategic business objectives and mychoice brand strategy as defined by stakeholders and marketing product manager.  In this capacity, the technical product manager will work closely with their marketing product manager counterpart to ensure the mobile app solution continues to deliver the intended results, maintains high adoption rates and delights the mychoice customer.  The successful candidate will leverage their extensive mobile app product management experience to define capabilities and drive the prioritization of a roadmap informed by data supported insights, customer demand, quality and engineering effort.  The successful candidate is a collaborative thought partner with proven ability to establish close trusted relationships with team members across organizational, functional and geographic boundaries for the purpose of uniting and tapping into the collective strength of the product team.  The selected candidate will be a mobile app visionary who will help shape the future of the mychoice Rewards loyalty app. 


Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assume shared ownership of Penn’s mychoice Rewards loyalty app with Marketing Product Manager for Penn’s mychoice Rewards loyalty app.
  • Work with Marketing Product Manager and stakeholders to identify requirements and translate them into features, user stories and technical stories.
  • Participates in the grooming and prioritization of product backlog to ensure work is fully prepared for engineering team
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, Marketing Product Manager and Engineering leaders to define the product roadmap
  • Build trusting long-term relationships with cross-functional business and engineering teams
  • Act as a liaison between stakeholders and technical teams to ensure hyper-communication, transparency and alignment
  • Solicit, consolidate and share input/feedback collected from stakeholders, business functions, customers and engineering team to facilitate efficient collaboration and idea sharing
  • Lead release planning, communication and execution
  • Own, execute and manage quality assurance and user acceptance testing associated with products/solutions
  • Develop and manage test case libraries for products/solutions that support integration, user acceptance, performance and regression testing.
  • Conduct regular product steering committee meetings with senior leadership that review product roadmap, priorities, product stability and status of active workstreams
  • Develop and deliver team member training for support and customer service of mobile app
  • Oversee and monitor problems associated with product as it relates to understanding and managing product stability
  • Work closely with all IT organizations and drive projects to successful completion
  • Work at the highest technical level of most phases of systems analysis while considering the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment.
  • Oversee project planning, coordination and delivery for low to mid-complexity initiatives


Qualification Requirements::  

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology or business-related field
  • 5+ years of experience in technical product management with a focus on mobile applications
  • Experience overseeing roadmap strategy and definition
  • 5+ years of experience acting as a liaison between technology and business areas
  • Proven experience working in an Agile environment including defining and documenting product requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills enabling strong interactions with colleagues of varying levels across functions
  • Ability to work independently, identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  
  • Ability to adapt to changes in prioritization or schedules of items in the work queue as necessary.
  • Must have excellent project and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Must have the ability to drive results and be proactive when working on tasks.

Supervisory Responsibilities:    

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to effectively present information to senior management.


Reasoning Ability:  

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Computer Skills:  

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Strong understanding of the software development life cycle ; Experience in systems design and implementation preferred

A successful candidate must have a proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.  Strong customer service, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required. Must have a proven track record of leading numerous projects simultaneously, establishing effective priorities among competing requirements and meeting deadlines while demonstrating a successful hands-on approach to overseeing all assigned projects.  Must possess strong administrative, analytical, time and project management and decision making skills.  Experience working directly with customers in understanding business needs required.
