Overview

Penn Interactive (PI) is an interactive gaming company headquartered in Philadelphia. As the digital arm to Penn National Gaming (NASDAQ: PENN), the largest regional casino operator in the U.S.,), the largest regional casino operator in the U.S., we are poised for fast-paced growth in the sports betting and online casino space and have partnered with Barstool Sports to launch an online sportsbook. 

 

We are looking to hire a Director of User Experience to oversee our growing UI/UX organization. In this role, you’ll lead the UX team responsible for understanding and defining the needs of our users, envisioning how users will interact with our products, and executing on that vision in ways that are both innovative and industry-standard. You will become an expert in the gaming and sports betting industry and ensure the UX team stays current on the new trends and experiences of our competitors.  Reporting into the Sr. Director of Product , you will influence cross-functional teams to create a best-in-class product in all aspects of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the strategy for the entire UI/UX org including UI/UX Design, UX Strategy and Content, and User Research
  • Take in requests and feedback from other business leaders while maintaining the overall UX strategy and ensuring user needs are always the top priority 
  • Build plans that align the overall UX Strategy with product roadmaps ensuring clear and measurable progress toward the vision
  • Lead and mentor a team of UI/UX designers, UX strategists, UX writers, and researchers who are building both mobile and desktop experiences
  • Attract top talent and manage the performance of your team according to our guiding principles of ownership, passion, and commitment to best-in-class experiences for our users
  • Identify gaps in capacity and quickly fill roles with energetic and passionate new team members
  • Use the guiding principles of agile to create efficiency on the UX team while understanding how the UX team is situated in the larger process with product and engineering
  • Work closely with product and engineering leads to keep teams aligned, motivated, and focused
  • Work with external partners on brand alignment across multiple products
  • Guide team in turning complex problems into simple and elegant solutions
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management and Engineering to execute on plans, supporting existing processes while also defining new ones where needed.
  • Be an advocate for user-centric design in all facets of the product development process while serving as a subject matter authority to internal as well as external partners and stakeholders
  • Understand, track, and introduce industry trends to remain current & forward-thinking
  • Identify areas for improvement in testing and sharing new tools, methods, and processes for conducting collaborative programs

Qualifications

  • 7+ years experience in User Experience Design and creating customer facing products for both mobile and web interfaces
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Human-Computer Interactions, Graphic Design, etc.)
  • Passion for user-centered design
  • A love for fast-paced, no-ego environments where the primary goal is to do whatever it takes to get the job done
  • Poise in front of both technical and business senior stakeholders and comfort in speaking up on behalf of user experience
  • Experience overseeing roadmap strategy and definition
  • Experience implementing and executing Agile principles
  • Strong understanding of UX best practices
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in all major tools of the trade: Sketch, Zeplin, Adobe CS, Miro, etc.
  • Experience designing for all mobile platforms with iOS being the most important
