Overview

Penn Interactive (PI) is an interactive gaming company headquartered in Philadelphia. As the digital arm to Penn National Gaming (NASDAQ: PENN), the largest regional casino operator in the U.S., ), the largest regional casino operator in the U.S., we are poised for fast-paced growth in the sports betting and online casino space and have partnered with Barstool Sports to launch an online sportsbook. 

 

We are hiring a Research Lead to join our UX team and oversee our growing team of Researchers. Reporting to the Director of User Experience, you will be responsible for inspiring and leading a collaborative research team and partnering with and motivating internal stakeholders as research becomes an integral part of our product development process. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of researchers as part of a larger User Experience organization 
  • Work closely with the UI/UX and UX Strategy leads to ensure alignment and focus across teams
  • Guide team and internal stakeholders in using research to inform our decisions to best serve our players
  • Champion user research across the company and clearly articulate and demonstrate to stakeholders the value of a continuous feedback of user feedback and insight
  • Collaborates with members of the larger UX org to ensure the integrity of the design and the translation of the design into a usable product
  • Work with the Product team leads to align user research initiatives to overall company roadmap
  • Work with the design and product leaders to help define our core metrics that we should be tracking to improve our product
  •  Establish and continually evaluate a robust set of research tools and vendors
  •  Lead in the creation of our research principles
  • Develop the processes our research team will adhere to in order to understand evolving user needs by creating clearly defined research goals and strategy, and employing qualitative/quantitative and generative/evaluative efforts
  • Work with research team to establish a standard of research readouts and presentations
  • Facilitate research processes with the team that ensure each study provides value and that the research findings are shared with all relevant stakeholders  

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in a research lead role
  • A love for fast-paced, no-ego environments where the primary goal is to do whatever it takes to get the job done
  • Collaborative approach to working with others
  • Poise in front of both technical and business senior stakeholders and comfort in speaking up on behalf of user research
  • Command of a broad range of standard user research methods used to gather qualitative and quantitative data (e.g., contextual interviews, usability testing, ethnographic field research, diary studies, panel research, survey development, heuristic reviews, card sorting, etc.)
  • Ability to both actively listen to and effectively question to understand another’s viewpoint
  • Experience using data to create key metrics for the team
  • Experience working with 3rd party agencies, particularly for sample and recruiting
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in all major tools of the trade: Sketch, Zeplin, Adobe CS, Miro, etc.
  • Experience designing for all mobile platforms with iOS being the most important

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field 
  • Passion for the sports betting and gaming industries 
  • Prior experience working in sports betting/gaming
